Apple has threatened to shut down the iTunes online music store if royalties for artisits are not increased.<br /> ...Washington (ChattahBox) – Apple has threatened to shut down the iTunes online music store if royalties for artists are not increased.

The National Music Publishers’ Association requested that royalties be increased from 9 cents to 15 cents for artists’ songs purchased from online music stores.

The Copyright Royalty Board will make a decision today as to whether or not they will adhere to the request.

Apple stated that if royalties are not increased, they will shut down the iTunes store before raising prices.
