Over the past couple of days, leaked images of the Kindle 2 have appeared online, originating from a web site known as The Genius Boys.

Amazon has long been rumored to be hard at work on the Kindle 2, and now seems closer than ever to releasing it.

It is said that the Kindle 2 is going to be a bit longer of a device, and will run on the same EVDO connection as the first version

One major addition though will likely be the added internal storage.

Amazon may want to get out the Kindle 2 to compete with the Sony PRS-700 e-book reader, set to launch in November for $399 with a touch-screen, and built-in LED reading light.
