Flu-Phone May Stop Your Sniffles

December 4, 2008

New York (ChattahBox) – Flu season is miserable no matter where you live. The inevitability of catching a bug as you make your way through your everyday life causes stress, tension, and eventually the sickness itself. But thanks to Zicam, the manufacturers if an over-the-counter cold and flu remedy, those risks may be surprisingly lessened this year.

Working in association with T-Mobile, the ‘Zicam Cold & Flu Companion’ is to be released on the G1, which will allow a user to receive alerts on how many people in their zip code are currently shaking from the winter-flu shivers.

Using information gathered through Surveillance Data Inc., which uses polls taken from pharmacies and clinics around the US, it finds the percentage in each area of people who have been exhibiting symptoms like sore throats, coughs, fevers, and chills. You can also do a quick search of other area codes, so you know where to steer clear of virus causing germs.

The program is available at no cost through the G1 programs list, the Android Marketplace. There is also a version that will be available by the end of the month for the iPhone, so Apple users never fear, flu protection is on the way!

So if your worried about getting the sniffles, check out the ‘Zicam Cold & Flu Companion’. Or if you like keeping healthy the old fashioned way remember to bundle up, wash your hand frequently, and try not to make out with the person coughing up phlegm on the bus seat next to you.
