Hyundai Genesis Take 2009 North American Car Of The Year

Michigan (US) – The Hyundai Genesis has taken the award for the 2009 North American Car of the year, in the first successful push by Hyundai to create a vehicle which can be marketed as a high-end car for American consumers.

The award was presented at the North American International Auto Show, by a panel of 50 journalists from all over the US and Canada. Ford took the award for 2009 North American Truck of the Year.

This is Hyundai’s first rear-drive sedan and in-house-developed V-8, and comes 41 years after the company began assembling Ford Cortinas, 34 years. Base price range is $33,000 (V-6); $38,000 (V-8). This is the first year that the South Korean automaker has been nominated.
