Bill Gates Patents Sci Fi Plasma-Particle-Beam Car Engine

April 11, 2009

(ChattahBox)—A US patent filed in 2007 by a group of ten inventors for a electromagnetic engine, was made public this week, and appearing on the list of inventors is none other than Microsoft’s founder and billionaire, Bill Gates, as well as Microsoft’s former chief technology officer, Nathan Myhrvold. The details of the patent for this futuristic car engine, throw around such phrases as plasma injector, particle beam igniter and electromagnets, indicating it would replace existing combustible engines.

The patent application states, the electromagnetic engine “converts mechanical energy of a piston to and from electrical energy during each piston cycle.” The patent mentions a “reactant” fuel and a liquid reactant injector, suggesting it would probably not run on gasoline. The reaction triggers for the engine are listed, as a possible spark plug, catalyst, particle beam igniter or plasma injector.

The proposed engine would work with pistons fitted with electromagnets, with the energy stored in a rechargeable battery, suggesting it would run on electricity. The new engine may not even need an alternator, making it the first of its kind.

If and when, such an engine actually goes into production, this means good news for the future development of fuel efficient environmentally safe vehicles, giving car buyers more options to go green.

By the time the technology is practical and affordable, Bill Gates will have passed on to the geek nirvana and won’t see a penny from his patent.

He might as well patent warp drive technology, although I think Roddenberry already has it.

    Live long and prosper.

I think we need more alternatives to our fuel based economy. The fact is with the new batteries of nickel cardium, we can make a better and more efficient car. I believe the place for Bill Gates to start will be in Europe and for most China. With the population in China alone; the electromagnetic car or the electric car would benefit them greatly considering they represent the largest race on the planet.

I still don’t have enough information about Bill Gates electric car to make a decision of how beneficial it would be to the common man.

I do know enough about the electric car to note it could be the most beneficial option for people today.
