New Twitter App, Twitmatic Makes Finding Videos Easier

May 20, 2009

(ChattahBox)—A new video aggregator Twitter App, named Twitmatic simplifies the process of accessing the thousands of video links shared by Twitter users. Just launched again this week, Twitmatic allows users to easily sift through an endless parade of Twitter shared videos, without having to suffer through re-direct links and other annoyances, if accessed straight from a tweet link.

Twitmatic essentially transforms Twitter into a video network akin to MTV, back in the days when it showed music videos day and night. Twitmatic was developed by a company, named ffwd that already runs a successful video site offering one stop shopping for videos from various sites, including, YouTube, Funny or Die, New York Times, Comedy Central and Hulu. The company describes ffwd as a personal remote control for the video web.

Now the founders of ffwd are taking their video expertise to create a similar service for Twitter. Users of Twitmatic enter a search term, which the service runs through more than 5,000 domains containing video links. The speed of the search results is aided in the background by a constant indexing of search terms.

The search results show all the tweets associated with each video. The best feature of Twitmatic allows a user to view the videos right from the search page, saving time and aggravation of having to click through to multiple sites.

Another time-saver, is the ability to log into Twitter right from the site, enabling a user to follow other Twitter users, reply to tweets, add videos to favorites, as well as rate the videos.
