Sprint Says Palm Pre $100 Service Deal Was Error

September 8, 2009

(ChattahBox)— Consumers interested in purchasing the new Palm Pre phone, woke up to a sweet deal Tuesday morning that was advertised on Sprint Web sites, offering a $100 credit for phone service to customers who bought a Pre and switched to Sprint.

However, just hours after the deal was posted it was swiftly removed by Sprint from many of its Web sites.

The company says it would honor the offer for customers who signed up for it during the time it was available.

James Fisher, a Sprint spokesman said in a statement, “After further internal review today, the offer of a port-in service credit of $100 to new customers who buy the Palm Pre has been pulled, because it was put into the system in error.”

The offer was still listed to Web users in Seattle for a short time in the afternoon, but elsewhere all traces of the offer have been pulled.

Sprint has been losing customers of late, over customer service issues and snafus like this.
