YouTube Announces The New 1080p Video Feature

November 14, 2009

U.S. (ChattahBox) – YouTube has announced this week that they will be offering users the ability to view content in 1080p.

It is a step beyond their recent incorporation of HD videos, which allow the user to watch a higher quality version of the content feature on their site.

However, the option will only work for those with more advanced systems, featuring large monitors, and enough RAM and a fast Internet connection to keep the feed smooth.

Those who have older systems, or just slower ones, will find their feed to be choppy, and slow to load. Some may already experience this with the HD feature, and so should stick with the original format for viewing.

“As resolution of consumer cameras increases, we want to make sure YouTube is the best home on the web to showcase your content,” the company said.

“For viewers with big monitors and a fast computer, try switching to 1080p to get the most out of the fullscreen experience.”
