Text Blocking Apps Increasing Among Text-Driving Accidents

January 15, 2010

(ChattahBox) – There is a huge problem with texting and driving, which leads to a high number of accidents every month, many of which end in deaths on both sides of the wheel. But companies are putting some effort into making it impossible for people to text and drive.

One of these applications, iZUP, makes it impossible to text when the car is going over 5 MPH, reducing the risk of a fatal accident.

Another, DriveSafe.ly, reads texts and emails out loud with the phone’s speaker function. Then, you can choose from a number of automated messages to reply.

Many of these programs have been created with teenagers in mind, as the number of accidents caused by teens while texting increases, and new policies are sought to battle the problem.
