Republican presidential candidate John McCain made a speech in Columbus, Ohio on Thursday, predicting that U.S. troops should be out of Iraq by 2013 if he becomes president.Washington (ChattahBox) – Republican presidential candidate John McCain made a speech in Columbus, Ohio on Thursday, predicting that U.S. troops should be out of Iraq by 2013 if he becomes president.

He stated that he he became president, he would bring the Iraq War to a close by the end of his first time.

The Arizona senator laid out a plan that by January 2013, Iraq would be “a functioning democrasy.” He also predicts that by that time, “Civil war has been prevented.”

He stated “It’s not a timetable, it’s victory. I’m promising that we will succeed in Iraq.”

The war in Iraq is one of the biggest campaign issues between McCain, as well as his Democratic rivals Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Both Obama and Clinton state that they will pull troops out of Iraq as soon as they take office.

Instead of going with that view, McCain has promised to get troops out by the start of 2013. It may not be an immediate fix, but it is clear he has a plan to end the war.
