The deadline is apparently set for this fall in terms of when to reduce the troop numbers in Iraq, as Gen. Petraeus has admitted that things are not working, and it may be time to get some troops out for good.

The troop cuts in Iraq will come just as the U.S. sets to take part in the 2008 general election for a replacement to Republican President George W. Bush.

Gen. Petraeus and others have asked for more time to decide how to deal with Iraq, but even the top commander believes troops will be coming out soon.
