The woman died on Wednesday due to a power failure.

The 61-year old woman became ill with polio at the age of 3 and had to be placed inside the 7-foot long iron lung to help her breathe.

A tragedy took place on Wednesday though as a power failure caused the machine to shut down, no longer breathing for her.

The family was unable to get an emergency generator in time to get her breathing again.

She has proven to be quite an inspiration though as she has received a high school diploma and took college courses as well.
