U.S. Army Suicide Rates Rise Yet Again To Record Levels

May 30, 2008

The U.S. Army has confirmed that the number of suicides reported has risen yet again in the last year..Washington (ChattahBox) – The U.S. Army has confirmed that the number of suicides reported has risen yet again in the last year.

Last year, 115 active-duty soldiers committed suicide, with two other cases being investigated still.

They stated that there are now 19 suicides for every 100,000 soldiers, compared to 10 suicides for every 100,000 soldiers back in 2002.

This shows that the number of suicides has doubled since the war in Iraq began.

This is a major problem as there are absolutely no signs that this trend is not going to continue.

If anything, the number of suicides is more than likely going to increase again in the coming year unless some changes are made.
