He died of a sudden heart attack away from a hospital, something which impacts hundreds of thousands of people each year.

His doctor, Michael Newman stated that he was under treatment for asymptomatic coronary disease.

Russert, according to The New York Times, suffered a sudden heart attack. Co-workers and others did their best to reive him through CPR.

They also tried using a defibrillator once the ambulance arrived on the scene.

Unfortunately they were not able to revive the 58-year old though, as he was later pronounced dead.

The American Heart Association stated that 300,000 Americans die of sudden cardiac arrest outside of the hsopital every year.

This is an alarming and frightening reminder of how dangerous cardiovascular disease really is.

I just wanted to say that in my 51 years,I have never heard people talk so dearly about someone else.I never knew Tim,but hearing you all talk about him I wish I had. This world is a better place because he was in it.
My prays go out to all at NBC and to his family.

God Bless you all at this very difficult time.
