Lightning Storm Causes Over 800 Fires In California

A lightning storm helped spark more than 800 fires in California, causing firefighters to battle fires throughout the day Tuesday.Washington (ChattahBox) – A lightning storm helped spark more than 800 fires in California, causing firefighters to battle fires throughout the day Tuesday.

Thousands of firefighters are on the ground and in the air as they try to battle the over 800 wildfires which were started by the lightning storm.

In total, it is believed that there were 5,000 to 6,000 lightning strikes which came from the storm.

The fires are starting to be contained as more firefighters are brought in to support the cause.

California Governor Arnold Schwezenegger declared a state of emergency in the counties of Monterey and Trinity on Monday.
