Kennedy, who raped his 8-year old stepdaughter in 1998 will not receive the death penalty, and therefore will not be executed.

The Supreme Court ruled that using the death penalty for rape would be unconstitutional.

Kennedy was one of only two men who are on death row, but did not actually commit a murder.

The Supreme Court decided to spare him with a 5-4 decision that ruled against executing the man.

Back in 1998, the crime was committed in New Orleans, Louisiana. Louisiana is one of five states in the U.S. which considers the death penalty for a rape case.

Following him raping his stepdaughter in 1998, he decided to make a phone call to the police, telling them she had been abused.

He then convinced the girl to lie to the police, stating two boys raped her, and the ran away on bikes.

Later in a trial, the stepdaughter testified and told the truth, revealing that it was Kennedy who carried out the rape.

She was hurt forever, requiring surgery for the damages done.

Back in 1977, the Supreme Court banned executions for rape, in a case where the victim was an adult woman.

According to the Death Penalty Information Center, the last time someone was executed for a crime other than murder was in 1964.

Murder is a personal crime. People kill someone they know for a reason.

Rape is a crime of power over weaker people. Often rapists are repeat offenders and it does not make me feel safe to know that rapists are not executed. To me they are worse than murderers. They ruin the lives of their victims who suffer life long while the murdered victim has no feelings. It is much worse to live a life after rape so I vote to get rid of all rapists once and for all.
