New Jersey Forcing Preschool Children To Get Flu Shots

October 19, 2008

The state of New Jersey has mandated that all preschool children get flu shots.........Washington (Chattahbox) – The state of New Jersey has mandated that all preschool children get flu shots.

Under the new mandate, any child in the state of New Jersey who wants to enter pre-school, will have to get a shot.

This comes as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) expanded their recommendation for flu shots this year.

Parents are not happy with the ruling though, mostly due to the fact that the vaccine last year was less than 50% effective.

Parents held a protest last Thursday at the New Jersey State House against the mandate.

Under the new law, all kids between 6 months and 5-years who attend day care and pre-school will need a flu shot by December.
