David Gregory Named New Host of Meet the Press

December 7, 2008

Washington (ChattahBox) — NBC News has confirmed that their chief White House correspondent David Gregory, will be the new moderator for Meet the Press. Tom Brokaw, who has been the interim host, introduced Gregory on this Sunday’s program after an interview with President-elect Barack Obama. Gregory a tenacious questioner and an Oscar-caliber mimic, said after the official announcement was made:

“I’m honored and deeply humbled as I take on this role. I’m filled with a great sense of purpose as I join a superb team to cover Washington and the world from a treasured platform in our country. Above all, I want to make Tim proud.”

Gregory inherits the longest-running program on television as well as a position of power from
Tim Russert, who died of a heart attack in June. The change in anchors could shake up the rankings of the Sunday morning shows, where Meet The Press has enjoyed an unbroken 11-year run at the top.
