Obama’s Newly Found College Photo Shoot (Video)

December 18, 2008

(ChattahBox) — As part of Time magazine’s Person of the Year story yesterday, the magazine published photos of it’s winner, President-elect Barack Obama during his years at Occidental College in Los Angeles.

The background on the photos is that Obama moved to California after graduating from high school and spent two years on the west coast.   During his freshman year, an acquaintance of his had pointed  an aspiring photographer in his direction, mentioning that she might want to consider an interesting young man on campus for a photo shoot.  They spoke and he agreed, arriving for the shoot wearing a panama hat and leather jacket.

The photos have remained in the basement of Lisa Jack for nearly 30 years but with Obama’s rise to fame, she contacted Time magazine about publishing the pics.

The President-elect seen puffing on a cigarette has quit smoking multiple times over the course of his adulthood.  He apparently succumbed to the temptation while on the campaign trail but says that he will adhere to the ’smoke free’ policy of the White House.

Check out the Andrea Mitchell video interviewing the Time reporter who give’s the story of the photos below (might take a minute to appear on page):
