(ChattahBox) — A gunman invaded an immigration services center in Binghamton, N.Y., on Friday, killing 13 people and himself.  The man — identified as 42-year-old Linh Voong of Johnson City a Vietnamese immigrant and a gun owner— was recently laid off from a job, Rep. Maurice Hinchey, D-N.Y. said Friday.  Little else was known about him Friday, and it remained unclear what triggered his rage.

Police said the gunman took his life after killing 13 people and four people were critically wounded in the Friday massacre, while 37 others made it out. Of the one’s who made it out, 26  terrified people hid for hours in a basement boiler room while police tried to determine whether the gunman was still alive and whether he was holding any hostages.  One receptionist survived, playing dead, before crawling under a desk and calling 911.  Police found a hunting knife and two handguns — a 9 mm and a .45-caliber on the assailant that were registered to Jiverly Wong, another name the man used.
