Vatican Says No to Caroline Kennedy as Ambassador

April 13, 2009

(ChattahBox)—Sources inside the Vatican recently told the Il Giornale, a Milan daily newspaper, that Caroline Kennedy, as a pro-choice Catholic would not be accepted as an US ambassador to the Holy See. The paper went on to say, the Vatican was making it clear it would not accept any pro-choice candidates and does not support President Obama’s stance on abortion rights or stem cell research

Caroline Kennedy, a practicing Catholic and daughter of former President John F Kennedy, has publicly stated in the past that she supports a woman’s right to choose an abortion. Ms. Kennedy supported Obama during his presidential campaign and this is a way of rewarding her. But it appears the Vatican is not going to accept her appointment.

Pope Benedict XVI has taken a hard line on the Catholic stance against abortion and even, birth control. The Vatican was widely criticized recently when it took the unusually harsh step of excommunicating the Brazilian family, of a nine-year old girl who received an abortion, after being raped by her own stepfather, and impregnated with twins.

The doctors who performed the abortion believed that carrying the pregnancy to term would endanger the little girl’s life. The doctors were also excommunicated. The stepfather who raped the little girl was not excommunicated.

Former Boston Mayor and Holy See Ambassador, Ray Flynn, recently made a comment to the Boston Herald, saying an ambassador to the Vatican should be pro-life. Flynn is an avid pro-life activist.

This would be the second attempt by Caroline Kennedy to enter public office. She previously made a half-hearted effort to win the appointment to Hillary Clinton’s empty Senate seat, but she bowed out after receiving criticism for her lack of experience in public office.

Why do you guys just tell absolute crap about Catholics as if it’s true?

You want to be bigots who know one but whackos listen to?

It’s not “an unusual step” for someone to be excommunicated if they go against the basic tenets of Catholic belief. In fact the excommunication was automatic (not the pope’s choice)…there’s Canon laws that say “when someone does this they get excommunicated”. It’s not like BXVI woke up and said “I’d like to go terrorize a Brazilian family that something unfortunate happened to”.

But for you hacks the truth clearly means nothing compared to pushing your own hateful bigoted beliefs!
