Dick Cheney media offensive all about fear of prosecution?

May 24, 2009

(ChattahBox) — Former Vice President Dick Cheney’s vocal offensive defending the Bush legacy on the war on terror has raised a lot of eye brows as to what purpose it serves.  During his service as VP he worked behind the scenes avoiding the media mostly, where as now he has been front and center criticizing Obama, which has surprised many as a break in protocol and very poor form for a previous administration to speak out against the new President.

Last night on CNN, Liz Cheney, perhaps inadvertently, revealed that part of the reason we’ve seen her dad come out of his bunker to defend the torture regime that he authorized, is that he is anxious to head off any investigation of future prosecution. To me this is not a big revelation, it’s just another instance where Dick Cheney is exercising poor judgment in knowing when NOT to go to war.  Apparently though conservative circles are loving what Liz Cheney has to say, as she is becoming so popular some want her to run for office.

He’s gone to war against the American Constitution, he’s gone to war against the signatories of the Geneva Convention, and how he’s going to war against the lawfully constituted US Government. I think it’s long past time for Cheney to face charges in court.

And please don’t call the redneck neo-Nazis that support him “conservatives.” I’m a conservative. They’re dangerous anti-Constituional reactionaries.

I think for once someone has it right.

Mr. Cheney knows that what he has don is illegal and immoral and is looking to create a belief that “The End Justifies The Means”.

Well is didn’t work at Nuremburg and I don’t see any reason that is will work now.

You liberals are amazing. You plod along life with your double-speak chanting the party line accusing your opponents of the very thing that you are doing. Do you really believe what you are saying or is that just your “position”? Dick Cheney has an opposing opinion about how our nation’s security should be handled. Again, you liberals are amazing. Everyone is entitled to their opinion as long as they agree with yours. If not – shout’em down. Indeed you like to cite one side of the story and pull as many weak minds into your groupthink as possible. While it is true that the tacit protocol is for former presidents not to criticize sitting presidents it works BOTH ways. But in standard fashion you change the protocol from president to “administration” and fail to mention it works both ways. So from the liberal point of view no one in the last “administration” can criticize the current “administration” – how convenient. Also, you failed to mention that the opening salvo came from the current president. Moreover, I present Jimmy Carter former president and never ending critic of a sitting president. Also, it is ironic that you people use references to the Nazis. If not for the complete groupthink they would not have come to power. Get your heads out of the sand…YOU ARE THE NEW NAZIS!
