Oklahoma Lawmaker: The Gays and Obama are to Blame for Economic Crisis

June 29, 2009

(ChattahBox)—Sally Kern, a controversial Republican lawmaker from Oklahoma, known for her anti-gay rhetoric and walking into the state capital with a semi-automatic handgun stashed in her purse, is once again making headlines for her extremism. She issued a bizarre Proclamation for Morality, in which she blames the economic crisis on homosexuality, other forms of debauchery and President Obama.

Sally Kern is on a mission to force her right-wing Christian ultra conservative views on the rest of the world.

When she was caught not once, but twice trying to take a handgun into the State Capitol building, she said, “Aw, I forgot!”

When questioned about her reasons for hiding a handgun in her purse, Kern said, “It has nothing to do with the homosexual situation and I’m just sorry that I forgot to take it out.”

In her Oklahoma Citizen’s Proclamation for Morality, Kern calls for a “…need for a national awakening of righteousness in our land,” cherry picking quotes from James Madison, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson to support her notion of a government based on Biblical principles.

Kern believes there are more sinister motives at play, besides Wall Street greed, for our nation’s economic crisis.

Kern believes President Obama’s support of gay pride events scheduled during the month of June, and his failure to celebrate National Prayer Day to her satisfaction, are to blame for our economic troubles.

Kern rails against same sex marriage and other forms of debauchery, blaming such immoral behavior for our economic woes.

Last year she even compared homosexuality to terrorism, saying, “I honestly think it’s the biggest threat our nation has, even more so than terrorism or Islam – which I think is a big threat, okay?”

Kern has taken her campaign against homosexuality to such great lengths, she even once announced she had discovered a secret copy of the infamous Gay Agenda, contained in a book entitled, “After the Ball,” by Marshall Kirk and Hunter Madsen, which was named after a musical adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s “Lady Windermere’s Fan.”

Read portions of Kern’s morality manifesto below:

“WHEREAS, we believe our economic woes are consequences of our greater national moral crisis; and

WHEREAS, this nation has become a world leader in promoting abortion, pornography, same sex marriage, sex trafficking, divorce, illegitimate births, child abuse, and many other forms of debauchery; and

WHEREAS, alarmed that the Government of the United States of America is forsaking the rich Christian heritage upon which this nation was built; and

WHEREAS, grieved that the Office of the president of these United States has refused to uphold the long held tradition of past presidents in giving recognition to our National Day of Prayer; and

WHEREAS, deeply disturbed that the Office of the president of these United States disregards the biblical admonitions to live clean and pure lives by proclaiming an entire month to an immoral behavior;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we the undersigned elected officials of the people of Oklahoma, religious leaders and citizens of the State of Oklahoma, appealing tithe Supreme Judge of the world, solemnly declare that the HOPE of the great State of Oklahoma and of these United States, rests upon the Principles of Religion and Morality as put forth in the HOLY BIBLE; and

BE IT RESOLVED that we, the undersigned, believers in the One True God and His only Son, call upon all to join with us in recognizing that “Blessed is the Nation whose God is the Lord,” and humbly implore all who love Truth and Virtue to live above reproach in the sight of God and man with a firm reliance on the leadership and protection of Almighty God; and

BE IT RESOLVED that we, the undersigned, humbly call upon Holy God, our Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer, to have mercy on this nation, to stay His hand of judgment, and grant a national awakening of righteousness and Christian renewal as we repent of our great sin.”

Kern plans to gather on the steps of the State Capitol next month, together with her supporters, to sign the “Oklahoma Citizen’s Proclamation for Morality.”

    WHEREAS, we who have two or more working braincells are aware that our current economic problems can be laid at the feet of Ronald Reagan’s deregulation of the banking industry; and

    WHEREAS Sally Kern is a whacko Republican who attempts to force her lunatic-fringe fundamentalist religious intolerance beliefs on other human beings in clear violation of the Constitution of the United States and basic human rights;

    BE IT RESOLVED that all whacko Republicans seeking to shift the blame somewhere else other than their own Party shall be shipped to Oklahoma and horsewhipped in the State Capitol until they scream for mercy and admit that they are the greedy assholes who caused the problem in the first place; and

    BE IT RESOLVED that Sally Kern should be deported to Iran, to learn what her type of intolerance does to loud-mouthed stupid people who think they are better than anyone else.

    Amazing that much the same thing could have been said (by pretty much the same people) for all of the below:

    – giving women the vote
    – freeing the slaves
    – allowing interracial marriage
    – the original foundation of our country (“divine right” of the British sovereign, etc)

    Just wow.

    If Oklahoma decides to secede, can we make sure they take Texas, Alabama and the rest of the “Bible Belt” with them? The we could build a long border fence that would really be useful…
