Fifth Victim of South Carolina ‘Serial killer’ Has Died

July 4, 2009

(ChattahBox) — A highly dangerous killer is now responsible for his fifth homicide victim today in a rural part of South Carolina called Cherokee County. Abby Tyler died Saturday at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Her father, Stephen Tyler, 48, was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting Thursday in the family-run furniture and appliance store, Tyler Home Center, in Gaffney. Police are linking their deaths to the shooting of two women and a man days before, and suspect a serial killer.

Police have put together a sketch of the suspected killer believed to be a man in his 40’s, described as tall with salt and pepper hair and said he may be driving a light-gray or champagne tan 1991-1994 two-door Ford Explorer. A special task force of 100 investigators from multiple agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, has been assembled and was chasing every conceivable lead.  officials fear the serial killer whose rampage began June 27 is specifically targeting women, even though men have also been killed. However investigators don’t know who the killer is, whether he is familiar with the area or if the murders are connected in any way.
