Blogger Shannyn Moore to Sarah Palin: Sue Me You Bully!

July 6, 2009

(ChattahBox)—The excitable Sarah Palin, soon to be ex-Governor of Alaska, threatened to sue the entire Internet for defamation through her attorney on the Fourth of July no less, specifically singling out local blogger and radio host, Shannyn Moore for her wrath. And Shannyn Moore is not backing down one bit, instead she has ratcheted up the battle calling Palin a bully and a coward.

In the wake of Palin’s puzzling and abrupt announcement of her resignation as governor on the Friday of a holiday weekend, rumors began circulating within Alaska and the blogosphere regarding the real reasons behind her unprecedented quitting in the middle of a first term of elected office.

Specifically, it was thought that there may be an impending federal investigation into corruption for the alleged use of materials intended for the building of the Wasilla Sports Complex to build her house.

The Village Voice and other outlets covered this story last year during the election.

The FBI office in Alaska subsequently made a statement saying, there was no pending corruption investigation of the Palins.

On Saturday, the Fourth of July, Palin’s attorney Thomas Van Flein issued a six page legal letter to media outlets threatening to sue anyone for defamation who initiated or repeated rumors about Palin. The letter specifically mentioned the Huffington Post, the New York Times, the Washington Post and Shannyn Moore. Palin’s legal threats accused Shannyn Moore as “most notably” claiming as “fact” that Palin resigned under federal investigation.

Palin’s “July Fourth Massacre” against bloggers certainly garnered a few chuckles and considerable attention, but as a public figure, it would be highly unlikely she would have a legal basis to pursue defamation suits against media outlets and Moore, unless she could prove malice.

On Monday, Moore called a press conference in front of Palin’s Anchorage office, blasting Palin for her heavy-handed reaction to unfavorable media coverage, after her bizarre and incoherent press conference on Friday, when she resigned from her office.

Below is Shannyn Moore’s entire statement:

“On the Fourth of July, when Americans everywhere were celebrating our most sacred national holiday with parades and barbeques, Governor Sarah Palin was busy having me, Shannyn Moore, declared an Enemy of the State.

In a rambling quasi-legal letter, the most powerful person in this state accused me of defaming her for pointing out the fact that there have been rumors, -rumors- of corruption, rumors that have been around for years.

When Sarah Palin gave her three-weeks notice to the people of Alaska, aborting her term as Governor, a lot of people wondered why she quit. Mid-level managers turn-in their notice, not elected public officials. It didn’t make sense. It still doesn’t. People have been trying to guess why she really quit, and everyone in Alaska has been playing the guessing game. They’re rumors. There are a lot of rumors. And with all the corruption we’ve had here in Alaska, of course we wonder what’s really behind her resignation.

Governors don’t just quit. But Governor Palin did.

The governor’s massive overreaction -on the Fourth of July no less- should make any reasonable person wonder what’s wrong with her. The Lady protests way too much. Eventually we’ll all find out why she really walked off the job.

Sarah Palin is a coward and a bully. What kind of politician attacks an ordinary American on the Fourth of July for speaking her mind? What’s wrong with her? The First Amendment was designed to protect people like me from the likes of people like her. Our American Revolution got rid of kings. And queens, too. Am I jacked-up? You betcha.

Sarah Palin, if you have a problem with me, then sue me. Shannyn Moore will not be muzzled!”

Note to Shannyn Moore…..”Look who is calling whom a Bully”…I think Ms. Moore is trying to make a name for herself understandably given where she is in life. Hey, everyone wants a shot at fame and this is her chance …at the expense of someone else….guess if you spew vitriol loudly and prominently you might get some attention…takes you from a nobody to someone with a small measure of fame…..You go girl.

Sarah Palin can kiss my rosy red American ass. I spent 23 years in the US Army defending the Constitution of the United States of America from jumped-up- half-witted politicians like her, and as far as I am concerned, this is not a rumour: She is unfit to hold any elected office in the most minor village in this nation because she is stupid as well as ignorant, and she demonstrated repeatedly that not only is she unaware of the law, she doesn’t care what it is because she thinks she is too important to obey the law.

And I think “Adel” is a Republican Astroturfer, hired to post fake “grassroots support” for wanna-be dictators like Palin. That’s my opinion. “…guess if you spew vitriol loudly and prominently you might get some attention…” Well, yeah! It worked for Palin and Limbaugh, didn’t it? They’re both wealthy now because they spewed vitriol loudy and prominently. And maybe one of them is wealthier than she would have otherwise been due to corruption while in office.

McCain’s choice has pretty much forced me out of the Republican coalition. The Democrats might raise my taxes, but otherwise they generally leave me alone. The Republicans seem to have contempt for individual rights as well as for science and reason.

    “Sue Me You Bully”

Looks like that is what might occur:

    ADN story:

    http://www.adn.com/palin/story/853746.html

“Anchorage attorney Peter Maassen, who last fall successfully defended legislators sued in an effort to stop the “Troopergate” investigation of the governor, said Van Flein would have an extremely hard time winning any legal action.

“If (Palin) is actually a public figure, which clearly she is, there has to be actual malice involved, in my understanding of defamation law. That would be very hard to prove. … It’s a very, very high bar if it is a public figure,” he said.”

Well, come July 27, she won’t be a “public figure” any longer, and I doubt the rabid hate filled Left will calm down a bit.

I think Sarah Barracuda is hungry and preparing to eat somebody up, and I’m loving it.

Sarah Palin looks like an idiot whenever and whereever she opens her mouth. Incoherent, folksy and junk talk really make me sick of being a republican.

Shannon why didn’t you confirm the rumor? Are you lazy or incompetent?

I hope the Governor smacks you down with a lawsuit, then you can shell out $ for legal fees.

BTW-Chattah Box your tabloid rag needs to be sued too. Why spread a rumor when the FBI confirmed it was not true?

When you are a top political figure in this country, you better damn well expect to be made fun of. It’s what happens when you run for office. Look at every celebrity, musician, politician, etc. Every famous person is made of and MOST shrug it off.

Palin needs to shut her mouth and stop crying about how people make fun of her. If you don’t want your kids to be made fun of, stop parading them around the media like they’re your trophies.

When your an incompetent moron who can’t do an easy interview and who eggs on protestors to kill Obama, you deserve every rude comment that is thrown at you. Suck it up Palin, you big cry baby :`(

I have a question… who the F cares what some blogger in Alaska, the New York Times, and (most of all) the Huffington post have to say about anything? Should we REALLY value the opinions of people who do things like coin the political term “teabagger” to describe people they don’t understand while at the same time claiming to be interested in tolerance and the common good? It’s clear that left wingers are no different than extreme right wing nutcases and should be accorded the same disdain… hate is hate, after all.
