Young Republican: Promotes Racism, Hate on Facebook

July 10, 2009

(ChattahBox)—Yet, another Republican has been exposed using a social networking site to promote racism, bigotry and feelings of pure hate towards President Obama.

Audra Shay is campaigning to become the next head of the Young Republicans, but the recent revelations surrounding her hate-mongering posts on her Facebook page may put her election in peril or then again, maybe it won’t.

Audra Shay, 38-years-old, has been quite the busy bee, traveling across the country for the past seven months campaigning to lead the next generation of young Republicans. However, she found the time to post hate on her Facebook page.

The Daily Beast reported earlier in the week of a series of hateful posts with racial overtones discovered on the future young Republican’s Facebook. It’s also evident from reading her online comments that Audra Shay has a problem with the English language and can’t spell.

A friend named Eric made the following post:

““Obama Bin Lauden [sic] is the new terrorist… Muslim is on there side [sic]… need to take this country back from all of these mad coons… and illegals.” A few minutes later Shay responded, “You tell em Eric! lol.”

Another post made by Shay reads, “This is an outrage and I CAN NOT believe this nation has him as our leader! It makes me sick!”

A few minutes later Shay posted, “My disdain for Obama is directly proportionate for his disdain of this country.”

After Shay’s Facebook posts were made public, a few of her fellow Republicans called for her to step down. Shay refused, adopting the narcissistic Palinesque role of the victim, claiming her enemies were engaging in political warfare. “…[M]y opponents will stoop to the lowest levels to steal this election from the jaws of victory,” said Shay.

If LOLing about comments comparing President Obama to a Muslim terrorist, referring to him as a “coon” and disparaging “illegals” wasn’t disturbing enough, new hate posts have been discovered, despite Shay’s efforts at recently scrubbing her Facebook sites.

Shay was discovered posting and enthusiastically endorsing a bizarre conspiracy-theory video, which claims President Obama hates White people.

Additionally, last year when referencing a report of an effigy of Sarah Palin displayed as a Halloween decoration outside a home, she wrote, “What no ‘Obama in a noose?”

There is more and it’s ugly. The Daily Beast has the rest of her hate-filled rants.

This weekend, the young Republicans are gathering in Indianapolis to elect their new leader and Audra Shay is the odds on favorite to win, despite her questionable character.

Not surprising that racists feel safe hiding online. They are all cowards anway

    Corrected the broken links…

Unfortunately, you left out a BIG part of the story… the way Audra Shay responded when two of her Facebook Friends called her out on the racist comments.

There is evidence to back up what transpired on other websites, as well as a first-person account by Cassie Wallender, one of Audra’s former “Friends.”

The narrative with the chronology of events is quite different than a statement posted by Audra where she tried to defend herself and deflect criticism as being the efforts of her opponents to smear her. But anyone with active brain cells should have been able to see through the smokescreen Ms. Shay tried to put up.

It’s difficult to defend, though, what might be a natural tendency on her part to embrace her inner racist.

And there is no doubt she is a racist.

She de-friended the two people who called her out on the posted vile comments, and let the REAL FRIEND, Eric Piker, stay on so he could post these racist comments 12 hours later:

“…the last time i checked i was a good ole southern boy…and if yur ass is black dont let the sun set on it in a southern town”

And for anyone who thinks Audra didn’t know what the word “coon” meant… if there was any chance at all that were true, she was properly informed by Cassie Wallender, who wrote the following, 1 hour and 46 minutes after Audra’s “You tell em Eric! lol”:

“Okay, why is this okay? I just looked it up.

‘It comes from the term baracoons (a cage), where they used to place Africans, who were waiting to be sent to America to be slaves.’

THIS IS NOT OKAY. And it’s not funny.”

You can see what Sean L. Conner’s immediate response was here, as well as the posts left by Eric, Audra, and others on Ms. Shay’s Facebook wall:—avlon-audra-shay-facebook-03_233200859004.jpg

Now ask yourself these important questions… if Audra Sigler Shay, as she stated in her response meant to counter claims that she is not a racist, “immediately deleted the derogatory and outright disgusting comments and subsequently posted a statement on my Facebook Status stating that in no way, shape or form are the comments posted by other individuals a reflection of me or my beliefs as an American, a Veteran, a Mother or a Candidate,” then…

1.) Why did she DE-FRIEND Cassandra Wallen and Sean L. Conner, who were themselves offended by the “outright disgusting” comments, and who both posted their strong feelings against them?

2.) Why was Eric Piker, the person who posted the racist comments, STILL A FRIEND after Cassandra and Sean were removed from Audra’s Friend list? Mr. Piker was able to post the “if your ass is black” comment 3 hours and 16 minutes after Audra stated “It was not right nor appropriate to talk that way.”—avlon-audra-shay-facebook-04_055837627929.jpg

Eric apparently was still Audra’s “Friend” for many hours after that second crude and threatening comment, until the media maelstrom kicked into high gear. That’s when she evidently realized he had become a liability to her, so she finally let him go.

3.) Why did Audra DELETE ALL OF HER SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS, after an unflattering investigation turned up MORE RACIST and INSENSITIVE COMMENTS written by AUDRA HERSELF?

Was she unable to “scrub away” all of her ignorant, intolerant, and hate-filled rants?

Did she decide to just throw in the towel altogether on Social Media, because it shows too closely who she really is?

Young Republicans had a serious decision to make on July 11.

Who would they elect, once the true character of one of their most prominent candidates had been revealed?

Would thoughtful, deliberative steps be taken to be less tolerant of those who are intolerant, and more inclusive of those who traditionally have not been included?

Would ballots be cast for a leader who would help revitalize and reinvigorate the Party, with honor and integrity and principled participation?

Would the voters decide to send a loud and clear message of what is acceptable and what is not?

Or would they just let the bigots and the racists and the small-minded manipulators take control and doom the Republican Party to the land of exile for decades to come?

    Looks like they decided.

    Shame on the Young Repubs.
