President Obama Guarantees Health Care Reform Bill Will Be Passed – Compares His Plight to FDR & Social Security

August 21, 2009

(ChattahBox) — In an interview with Philadelphia-based radio talk show host and MSNBC analyst Michael Smerconish on Thursday, President Barack Obama guaranteed that health care reform will be achieved. After taking a question from a caller who voted for but now feared the president was waffling on healthcare, Obama compared his situation to FDR’s battle to pass Social Security, particularly the vehemence of the opposition they encountered:

You know, passing a big bill like this is always messy,” he told the caller.

“FDR was called a socialist when he passed Social Security. JFK and Lyndon Johnson – they were both accused of a government takeover of health care when they passed Medicare. This is the process that we go through, because understandably the American people have a long tradition of being suspicious of government until the government actually does something that helps them.”

Obama went on to list four points as his basic requirements in response to the question. Obama said any bill he signs will have to reduce rapidly rising costs, protect consumers from insurance abuses and provide affordable choices to uninsured people — while not adding to the federal deficit.

Yeah. We all see how Social Security isn’t in jeopardy, right?
Obama’s nothing but a two-faced politician. He’ll say whatever the people want to hear.
I bet his Health Care bill would pass if it didn’t include killing babies and old people.

@D: How stupid are you, really? Do you really swallow the lies told by Palin and the other Nazis about “death panels?” Can you read? Apparently not. Try finding someone who can read, and have them read the text of the bill to you. Then have them explain it in one-syllable words. Or, perhaps in your case, some sort of grunt-and-point language.

EVERY SINGLE ONE of the Republicans who oppose National health care reform has been perfectly happy to accept health care paid for by MY TAX DOLLARS – health care that is much better than the best private insurance I can afford. But I guess fiscal tyranny is better than socialism, because it ensures obscene profits for insurance companies, and millions of dollars in bribes, I mean, in campaign contributions (wink wink nudge nudge) for Republicans.

The other day, I received an interesting and very instructive e-mail from my brother Jeff who lives in France. He asked me to share it with the readers of my blog. I think I shall also share it with you

“As an American who has been living in Europe for most of the last 20 years, one who has visited doctors numerous times in four different countries, whose two children were brought into this world in European hospitals (France and England), who has himself spent a week in a public British hospital, and who underwent an operation in a private British clinic, I think I can say a thing or two about health care in Europe.

“Our out of pocket expenses for the births? Zero, even though in France my wife spent 5 days in the hospital after the birth, which is standard, by the way.

“During the three years we lived in England, we never once paid for medicine for our children. Children get drugs for free in the UK. Visits to the GP are free for everybody.

“My expenses for the week in the NHS hospital? Zero.

“The cost of the operation in the private clinic? Zero, it was covered by my work insurance, as was the post-op physical therapy I needed.

“In Western Europe you would never be forced to sell your home in order to pay for your medical bills, as happens all too often in America when catastrophic illness strikes and the insurance company decides that your condition was ‘pre-existing’.

“The quality of the care? Mostly good. French hospitals are excellent, even the food is decent. The food at the NHS hospital was beyond awful, but then again most English food is pretty bad (though they do have great Indian food). At night, they were understaffed, but I am guessing that, apart from that place where Dr. House works, most American hospitals are understaffed at night, too.

“In short, in the US, you pay more, get less, and die younger than we do in Europe. What part of that don’t you understand?

“My fellow Americans, you have nothing to fear except those who would use fear to keep you enslaved to the myth of the might of the American health care system.”

    Jeff Degan

What can I tell you? The guy is a Communist. Not only does he live in France, he actually likes it there. An eternal shame to our family’s good name. Let us boil down his seven paragraphs to their juicy essentials, shall we?

Here is (Excuse me, I meant to say, “Here was“) a golden opportunity for real reform and the idiotic Americans are screaming about socialism. Is it any wonder that we have become the laughingstock of the Western world?

    Old Man Dotes:

Really? insane profits for insurance companies? Show them to me.

Funny that the VA adminstrators of a THAT public option got $24 million in bonuses. Shades of Freddie and Fannie, which are Democrat hubs for politicians taking time off. See Rahm’s mystery 300K for never attending a meeting.

There was a recent report that showed that insurance companies actually are not making significant profits. The CEOs are not getting massive bonuses like Wall Street. Sadly, you too need to read.
