Arizona Pastor: Wants President Obama to ‘Die, like Ted Kennedy, of Brain Cancer’

August 31, 2009

(ChattahBox)—The violent rhetoric coming from the mouth of Arizona’s right-wing extremist Pastor, Steve Anderson became even more alarming and dangerous recently when he said he wants to see President Obama “…die like Ted Kennedy, of brain cancer.” Additionally, one of his parishioners, Chris Broughton, who arrived armed with an AR-15 rifle and a handgun to an Obama town hall event, said he agreed with his Pastor that Obama should die and that “It would be better now than later.”

As I previously reported, Anderson’s fringe fundamentalist, storefront Church, the Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, Arizona is described, as a “…King James Bible only, separated Baptist church” that opposes “…worldliness, modernism, formalism, and liberalism.” He preaches hate on a weekly basis and believes that both gays and President Obama deserve the death penalty.

Right after he preached his August 16, sermon entitled, “Why I Hate Barack Obama,” parishioner Chris Broughton showed up armed to the teeth at a President Obama event in Arizona. During his sermon attacking Obama and wishing for his violent death, Anderson said, “God Hates Barack Obama, I hate Barack Obama. I hate Him. God wants me to Hate Barack Obama.”

Because Obama is pro-choice, Anderson says, “Someone who commits murder should get the death penalty.” He prayed for Michelle Obama to become a widow and for the Obama girls to become fatherless.

Amid these earlier statements praying for Obama “to die and go to hell,” Anderson recently upped his rhetoric in an interview with a local TV station saying, I don’t want him [Obama] to be a martyr, we don’t need another holiday. I’d like to see him die, like Ted Kennedy, of brain cancer.”

In a frightening exchange with the gun-toting Chris Broughton, he ominously expressed his wish for President Obama’s death.

An ABC 15 reporter asked Broughton the question: “you’re not advocating violence against the president?” To which Broughton answered, “I’m not going to answer that question directly.”

“I don’t care how God does it, I’m not going into further detail than that,” Broughton says. “It would be better now than later,” said Broughton.

CNN previously reported that the Secret Service made a visit to interview Pastor Steve Anderson, which he denied. But in response from an inquiry from Talking Points Memo, the Secret Service responded that the agency was aware of the situation.

The parishioners of hate are now attending church services armed not only with Bibles, but with guns so that “people know if they come down here swinging a baseball bat, we’re ready to protect ourselves,” said Anderson.

Anderson behaves more like a domestic terrorist than that of a man of God and his Faithful Word Church should be re-categorized into a dangerous right-wing militia organization at the top of Homeland Security’s terrorist watch list.

I notice this so-called “man of God” is wearing worldly modern clothing, and not animal skins or fig leaves like the Old Testament men did. Apparently he is a hypocrite and will be cast into the Lake of Fire.

    Better sooner than later.

By the way, did anyone else notice that Steve Anderson practices polygamy with underage girls?

After hearing this terrible statement by this so-called “man of God” I can’t help but tremble at this insane prayer. Anyone who is a Christian, or believer in God, knows this is not the character of a believer in God. This amounts to blaspheme at the very least. I feel the Republicans are randomly selecting various people to come up with these kind of outrageous statements to incite the nation and weak followers into a riot. How can anyone who preaches this kind of hate believe in God. I pray for Obama often because of these hate-mongers and I truly hope that nothing happens to him. He is trying to clean up government and provide affordable health care to people who are in need. How can the Republicans turn this around and say Obama is advocating “death camps” and all this other rheteric. They should be truly ashamed of themselves. I am so saddened at what the advocates are promoting.

those same republicans who tried to say Obama shouldnt be The Pres because he went to a baptist church where Rev Wright preached in all honesty some truths about how america have treated its own people, seemed to have all gone quiet on this one…? Why is that… I wonder… make you’re own mind up
also..If This poor excuse for a human being was a muslim, there would be uproar, instead it was hardly a news story for long. Why is that… I wonder… make you’re own mind up

Does this mean that all baptists believe in this hate? No, but make you’re own mind up, and all christians hate black people , because I cannot think of any other reason why he would want Obama to die & not bush, again make your own minds up & challenge this statement please..
yet these narrow minded people (if you can call them that) are unable to see the islamic extremists are exactly that – extremist ( just like this ****)
yet they want to bash Islam & Muslims, but this Devil is ok will just ignore it & let him carry on spewing his Vile.
There are a lot of decent people in America, but there’s a hell of a lot of people there who also let your counrty down (and you let them) & you all then get tarred with that same brush unfortunatly.
