Boy missing for two-years found alive, hidden at grandma’s home

September 6, 2009

(ChattahBox) — Another miraculous missing-person story. This time a six-year-old child who went missing for years was freed Friday from a restricted captivity bringing to mind recently found Jaycee Lee Dugard.  Richard “Ricky” Chekevdia, who turns 7 on Sept. 14, was kidnapped during a custody battle nearly two years ago, apparently by the boy’s mother, Shannon Wilfong, 30, who is now charged with felony child abduction. Grandma Diane Dobbs, 51, is charged with aiding and abetting. The home in downstate Illinois’ Franklin County contained several hiding spots, authorities said. The boy who was in good spirits and health after being found Friday by investigators in a tiny 5-by-12-foot hideaway, is with one of his father’s relatives while state child-welfare workers investigate claims the father abused Ricky before his disappearance.  Authorities said they don’t think Wilfong or the boy left the home in the time they have been sought.
