Is President Obama the Anti-Christ? One Third of NJ Conservatives Think So

September 16, 2009

(ChattahBox)—The Public Policy Polling firm decided to poll New Jersey residents, asking if they think President Obama is the anti-Christ, to gage the level of extreme hate exhibited towards President Obama by some conservatives, as recently evidenced by the many offensive signs carried at the DC tea party rally.

The results were astonishing, with one in three conservatives in the garden state believing President Obama is indeed the anti-Christ.

Among everyone polled, 8 percent said yes and 13 percent aren’t sure. Among Republicans, 14 percent said yes and 15 percent weren’t sure if President Obama is the anti-Christ.

Some right-wing conservatives have claimed on blogs that President Obama fits the criteria for the anti-Christ described in the New Testament Book of Revelation, described as beasts who “speak blasphemy against God.” Apparently, this absurd notion has gained traction among right-wing conservatives.

Among those self-identified as conservatives, as opposed to Republicans, the number believing our President is Satan is even higher. Eighteen percent of all New Jersey conservatives believe Obama is the anti-Christ.

Among self-identified McCain voters, 12 percent of those polled believe Obama is the anti-Christ.

The polling firm also uncovered quite a few New Jersey birthers. Twenty one percent of New Jersey voters believe Obama was not born in this country. Among conservatives, 33 percent believe Obama is not a natural born citizen.

Belief in conspiracy theories is not reserved to conservative voters. The poll found that 32 percent of New Jersey Democrats are truthers, who believe that George Bush had advance knowledge of the 9/11 attacks.

These results point to the increasing polarization of our country.

Complete polling results can be found here.

Those people are not Conservatives. *I* am a Conservative. Those people are wingnuts, racists, bigots, inbred cretins, and talk-radio performers, with a leavening of KKK Grand Dragon wannabes.

I would hazard an estimate that their aggregate IQ is below average. For squirrels.

To paraphrase Keith Olbermann, I think 1/3 of NJ republicans might be the anti-christ so we’re even.

[…] Still maybe Spike is a bit harsh, there will be a significant section of opposition to Obama which might not be racist but just nuts – like the one third of New Jersey Conservatives who think Obama is the antichrist […]
