Corrupt US Border Officials Put Nation at Grave Risk of Terorism

September 24, 2009

(ChattahBox)–According to an exclusive report by ABC news, for the right price, corrupt U.S. border agents will allow illegal immigrants and even weapons and drugs to enter the United States, putting our country at grave risk for a terrorist attack say, F.B.I. officials.

The threat to our nation is so severe, that the F.B.I. together with Homeland Security and the Office of the Inspector General are stepping up efforts to root out corruption from the ranks of customs and border agents who act as the front line sentries protecting our borders.

The F.B.I. is presently investigating over 100 active cases of corruption within the ranks of agents working for Custom and Border Protection.

And the F.B.I. is determined to root out every last “corrupt border official willing to betray their badge for a price,” before it’s too late and either terrorists or weapons of mass destruction cross our borders into the United States.

Kevin L. Perkins, assistant director of the Criminal Investigative Division for the F.B.I., expressed dismay at the willingness of corrupt border officials to let anyone enter the country illegally for a price. And these illegal immigrants come from all over the world.

“Whether it’s a truckload of illegal narcotics or whether it’s components of a weapon of mass destruction. We have to know what those are. We have to have assurance that our borders are safe, that our borders are secure and that we can find these things before they enter our country,” said Perkins.

In one disturbing instance, F.B.I. video surveillance at the U.S.-Mexico border caught a truck full of illegal immigrants pulling up to Customs and Border Protection officer Michael Gilliland, and being waved through his border inspection lane for $100,000.

Since 2004, 94 federal customs officials have been charged with mission-related corruption.
