S.C. GOP Chairmen Say Criticized DeMint Is ‘Like A Jew Rubbing Pennies’

October 20, 2009

South Carolina (ChattahBox) – South Carolina has come under fire a lot recently, with several so-called ‘activists’ within the Republican party showing blatant racism that has been met with disgust by many. But a further faux pas occurred this week, after a rebuttal letter on behalf of Senator Jim DeMint used some offensive stereotyping to make a point.

The letter, sent into the local publication The Times and Democrat, was in response to an opinion piece written by Rep. Bakari Sellers, which accused DeMint of holding off on funding for projects that are too the benefit of those within his state.

The rebuttal? According to James S. Ulmer Jr. and Edwin O. Merwin Jr., both who chair the GOP in different S.C. counties, he isn’t being irresponsible with his program planning. He is being a Jew.

“There is a saying that the Jews who are wealthy got that way not by watching dollars, but instead by taking care of the pennies and the dollars taking care of themselves. By not using earmarks to fund projects for South Carolina and instead using actual bills, DeMint is watching our nation’s pennies and trying to preserve our country’s wealth and our economy’s viability to give all an opportunity to succeed.”

It was, perhaps, one of the most pointless and ridiculous reasons given for anything all year. Unbelievable.
