GOP Supports Teabagger Resolution to Show ‘Gratitude and Appreciation’

October 28, 2009

(ChattaBox)—House Republican, Rep.Tom Price of Georgia has adopted a resolution to honor the anti-government, anti-Obama teabagger protesters, whom descended on Washington, DC last month, armed with offensive signs, threatening violence against the government, depicting racial animus and attacking President Obama as a Socialist, Marxist and Fascist. The teabagger resolution is endorsed by 70 House Republicans, “Expressing gratitude and appreciation to the individuals and families who participated in the Taxpayer March on Washington on September 12, 2009.”

All of the usual right-wing suspects joined the resolution, including Reps. Louie Gohmert, of Texas, Steve King of Iowa, Joe “You lie” Wilson of South Carolina, Zach Wamp of Tennessee, the wacky Michele Bachmann of Minnesota and even Eric Cantor of Virginia.

The resolution reads:

“Whereas, on September 12, 2009, hundreds of thousands of American patriots, who refuse to sit idly by as the Federal Government advances skyrocketing deficits, taxpayer-funded bailouts, pork-barrel projects, burdensome taxes, unaccountable policy czars, command-and-control energy policy, and a government takeover of health care, came to Washington, DC, to show their disapproval.”

The so called, American Patriots were funded and supported by conservative lobbyist Dick Armey’s FreedomWorks organization, Glenn Beck’s 9/12 groups and heavily promoted by Fox News.

You just have to look at the vitriolic and angry signs carried by the teabaggers at the 9/12 DC march, to realize it was not a group of anti-tax patriots, but a group of angry people protesting President Obama with racial hate and threats of violence.

That is what Rep. Price and the 70 Republican co-sponsors are really honoring.
