Joe Wilson Blames Obama for Scarce H1N1 Vaccine, But Voted Against Funding

November 3, 2009

(ChattahBox)—The notorious presidential heckler, Joe “You lie” Wilson (R-SC), is blaming the manufacturing delay in producing adequate amounts of swine flu vaccine on President Obama. But in June, Wilson didn’t think preparation for the pending swine flu epidemic, was important to Americans, when he voted no on a special funding bill to combat the H1N1 virus.

Despite the Obama administration taking every available precaution to deal with the H1N1 epidemic, the slow manufacturing process that requires growth of the virus in chicken eggs, has temporarily delayed the delivery of sufficient amounts of vaccine to the U.S. But, the process may be finally catching up to demand, as officials expect another 10 million doses of the vaccine to be made available by the end of the week, to add to the already 31.8 million doses.

However, famous presidential heckler Rep. Wilson has decided that President Obama is “solely responsible” for the current shortage of vaccine.

“The current administration is solely responsible. They can’t blame this on any prior administration,” Wilson said. “This is the responsibility of the current administration. They’ve put the lives of Americans at risk,” declared Wilson.

Wilson doesn’t point to any specific inadequacies in the swine flu preparation of the Obama administration, he just has decided to point his finger with an accusation. The last time he pointed his finger at President Obama, he shouted. “You lie!” during Obama’s health care speech before a joint session of Congress.

While Wilson decided to lead with his wagging index finger once again, rather then his brain, he forgot to check his voting record on swine flu funding. Oops! On a June vote of a supplementary appropriations bill that contained special funding for H1N1 preparation, Wilson, along with 95 percent of Republicans voted against it.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee put out a statement last week noting Republicans’ hypocrisy in criticizing the shortage of swine flu vaccine, while voting against funding for the pandemic:

In a statement released on Oct. 27, DCCC spokesperson Ryan Rudominer said:

“The families, schools, and businesses fighting against the H1N1 flu pandemic deserve better than House Republicans’ reckless, knee jerk partisanship and just-say-no approach to helping prepare for this national emergency.”
