GOP Rep King: Anti-Health Reform Lobbyists Like Paul Revere

November 4, 2009

(ChattahBox)—Rep. Steve King (R-IA) felt compelled to make an impassioned speech last evening comparing corporate shills, tasked with denying Americans desperately needed health care reform, to Patriot Paul Revere. Right wing conservative Republicans Rep. King and the wacky Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), are actively pushing for an anti-health care reform rally on the steps of the Capitol on Thursday, endorsed by corporate lobbying groups FreedomWorks and Americans for Prosperity.

King likened the lobbying groups’ efforts to pay for buses to transport tea party protesters to the Capitol, to Paul Revere riding on his horse, answering the call for his country.

FreedomWorks is run by conservative activist, Dick Armey the former Republican Majority Leader and lobbyist from DLA Piper. He created a website called, “” advising tea party protesters to yell “kill the bill,” as they converge on the Capitol steps.

Americans for Prosperity has provided 10 buses leaving from the states of Maryland, New Jersey, and North Carolina to transport anti-health care reform protesters to Washington, DC at no charge. As noted by Think Progress, Americans for Prosperity is funded by wealthy energy tycoon, David Koch.

In Rep. King’s world corporate lobbyists are American patriots, who would have reduced our Founding Fathers to tears, because of their patriotism:

KING: If the Founding Fathers could stand in here tonight, the tears would be running down their cheeks thinking of what is staged to happen in this Congress. This is why we need the American people to come to this city and be here by noon on Thursday. Gather together, come to this Capitol, surround this place, bring your passion, your love for this country, bring your patriotism, and bring your signs while you’re at it. Mr. Speaker, the American people need to come here. […]

There are buses that are coming in from state after state after state, converging on this city. People are dropping what’s important. It’s as if Paul Revere had ridden across America and said, ‘here’s the call, here’s the call of your country.’

King most recently claimed that pop singers Fergie and J-Lo performed songs with lyrics that are more offensive than Rush Limbaugh’s race-baiting and hate.

Watch the Paul Revere insanity:
