Officials Looking at Possible Suicide in Census Worker’s Death

November 6, 2009

(ChattahBox)—Nearly two-months after the naked body of census worker, Bill Sparkman, 51, was found hanging from a tree in a remote forest in Kentucky with the word “fed,” scrawled on his chest, authorities are no closer to solving the case. And they still are investigating Sparkman’s death, as a suicide despite the fact that his hands were bound and he was hanging from a tree.

Authorities investigating Sparkman’s death told the Associated Press that they are becoming increasingly doubtful that the census worker’s death was the result of anti-government sentiment. And they may be settling on a conclusion of suicide.

As evidence that Sparkman’s death may have been due to suicide, authorities point to the fact that his hands were loosely bound, still affording the census worker some mobility to manipulate the rope tied to a tree. Authorities say Sparkman died of asphyxiation where his body was found.

Investigators also point to the absence of defensive wounds on Sparkman’s body.

Capt. Lisa M. Rudzinski, commander of the state police post in London, Kentucky refused to acknowledge that the probe into Sparkman’s death was leaning towards a theory of suicide.

“The Kentucky State Police are continuing to investigate the death of William Sparkman and have yet to determine whether it is homicide, suicide or accidental. The investigation is continuing,” said Rudzinsky.

However, Bill Sparkman’s friends and son are convinced he was murdered. Co-worker Gilbert Acciardo, a retired Kentucky state trooper who runs an after-school program at the elementary school where Sparkman worked as a substitute teacher, claims Sparkman exhibited no signs in the days before his death that he was prone to suicide.

“He was the same Bill Sparkman I always had contact with,” Acciardo said. “I didn’t notice any change in mood or behavior. He came bouncing in like he always did, with a smile on his face, cutting up with me.”

Poor Mr. Sparkman. Looks like he may have been murdered by someone with close connections to someone politically important in the county. It’s sad, but par for the course in a county that’s corruption is nationally known. Maybe it’s time to bring in some real investigators before evidence is completely covered up or destroyed.

I guess if his hands were tied behind his back, instead of in the front, and “FED” was written on his back instead of his chest, and if someone else’s fingerprints were on the tape and ink marker instead of only his, then I would have called it murder. However, none of that is true. He offed himself and tried to defame Kentucky on his way out of this world. What a pitiful putz.
