GOP Rep Gohmert: Dems Want Terror Attack on NY to Create Jobs

November 18, 2009

(ChattahBox)—Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) has been doing his best to outdo the insane extremist rhetoric of many of his right-wing Republican colleagues, such as Rep. John Shadegg (AZ), Michele Bachmann (MN), and Rep. Steve King (IA) and he may have succeeded with his latest offensive rant against holding the trials of several 9/11 suspects in New York. Appearing on Fox News yesterday, Gohmert suggested that Democrats may actually be welcoming a deadly terrorist attack in New York, because the rebuilding effort would create new jobs.

It seems right-wing Republicans are not happy unless they employ shameful fear mongering tactics to frighten the nation for political gain.

Gohmert is not known for his intellectual capacity or legislative achievements. But he is known for his nonsensical extremist rhetoric saying, health care reform “is going to absolutely kill senior citizens,” and force Americans to use contraception against their will like, putting “condoms on wild horses.” The Texas Congressman also recently said, the newly expanded Hate Crimes bill would lead to legal protections for bestiality, pedophilia and necrophilia, and a lack of morality like what occurred in Nazi Germany.

During an appearance on Fox News, Gohmert joined other Republicans to oppose Attorney General Eric Holder’s decision to try 9/11 mastermind, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in a federal court in New York, by using scare tactics. Gohmert claimed that if terrorists are tried in New York, their terrorist friends will flock to the city in droves to engage in attacks against New Yorkers:

“you’ve got millions of New Yorkers who would be put at risk by this. For someone like me that has put together the logistics of a court trial: you’ve got weak links all along the way from the jails, the bailiffs, the clerks, the jurors, the judge—everybody in the courtroom—their families.”

Gohmert then offensively suggested that Democrats actually may be inviting terrorism to New York for the purpose of creating jobs in the rebuilding of the aftermath of a tragedy:

“You’ve got subways, tunnels, bridges all subject to terrorism. And unless they’re trying to create a new jobs bill by allowing terrorism back in New York then this is insane. And even that would be insane.”

Gohmert didn’t end his odious rhetoric there. Last night he spoke on the floor of the House saying, that since a terrorist attack would entail evacuations, the fact that we have a “community organizer” in the White House to organize the process is a good thing:

“They intend to terrorize us. They intend to defeat us–destroy us. Then their friends will be looking for such a way to do that. What better way than in the most densely populated area in this country to have some terrorists threats go on? And what you normally have when the terrorists threats go in is evacuations. And that’s when “it is extremely helpful to have a community organizer in the White House because you’ll need lots of community organization in order to adequately evacuate massive areas of the most densely populated area in America.”

Earlier in the week Rep. John Shadegg (R-AZ) shamefully suggested that holding 9/11 terror trials in New York would lead to terrorists kidnapping Mayor Bloomberg’s daughter.

“Gohmert suggested that Democrats may actually be welcoming a deadly terrorist attack in New York, because the rebuilding effort would create new jobs.”

If it is Gohmert’s intention to support the conspiracy nuts, he has just given fuel to the theory that 9/11 was secretly backed by the *BUSH* Administration; after all, 9/11 happened on the Bush/Cheney watch, and surely the destruction of the WTC and damage to the Pentagon generated lots of jobs.

And he’s also provided living proof that people are sent to Washington to get them away from the sane people with working brains in their home States.

Goober Gohmert does it again. The guy is a font of stupidity. Do a “google” search on this guy’s intellectual gifts.

    He is pure entertainment.
