Ex Seahawks Linebacker-Preacher: ‘Christians are the New Negro’

November 22, 2009

(ChattahBox)—Ken Hutcherson is a former NFL linebacker for the Seahawks and Senior Pastor of the evangelical Antioch Bible Church in Redmond, Washington. He is also rabidly anti-gay and spends a good deal of his pastoral efforts fighting against anti-discrimination ordinances that offer protection to gays and same sex marriage rights.

Hutcherson also vehemently opposes the notion that gay rights are a civil rights issue akin to the struggles of African Americans. And he recently penned a column in World Net Daily, the fevered swamp for bigotry and fringe conspiracy theories, taking his argument one step further declaring that Christians are a victimized group. “I think Christians are the new Negro,” said Hutcherson.

Hutcherson’s commentary entitled, “Church: Stop being ‘evangelly-fish,'” describes homosexuality, as “…an issue of sin, that God does not condone,” and he rails against the LGBT community’s fight for marriage equality and other fundamental rights, as somehow besmirching the struggles of black Americans:

“It has been said loudly and proudly that gay marriage is a civil-rights issue. If that’s the case, then gays would be the new African-Americans. I’m here to tell you now, and hopefully for the last time, that the gay community is not the new “African-American” community. In fact, I think Christians are the new Negro – but that’s an issue for a follow-up column.”

“In 2005, the Rev. Jesse Jackson stated that the fight of gays and lesbians wanting to marry should not be compared to the fight African-Americans faced for civil rights. The comparison of the plight of the gay community to slavery is a stretch; remember, gays were never called “three-fifths” human, according to the Constitution, and they did not require the Voting Rights Act to gain the same democratic rights as whites.”

Hutcherson’s hate is coloring his judgment. The LGBT community has never compared their fight for equal rights under the law to the hardships endured by former slaves. But Hutcherson’s false comparison has a purpose. It serves to pit the black community against the LGBT community and that’s his true mission. His false outrage that gays are tarnishing the history of black civil rights rings hollow.

And the fact that society will not march in step to his hate mongering does not make Christianity the new black.

Hutcherson has taken his hate of the LGBT community to the doors of Microsoft, where he waged various campaigns to pressure the tech giant not to support local same-sex marriage, civil unions, or domestic partnership legislation. He once urged his parishioners to purchase Microsoft stock, to position his church to demand that Microsoft return to “traditional values” and to “support only biblically-based social policy positions.”

Hutcherson has also been associated with the anti-gay group, Watchmen on the Walls that is listed by the Southern Poverty Law, as a dangerous hate group. The group refers to homosexuality, as ‘inherently evil.”

I hate religious zealots. It will be a delight to watch the destruction of proposition 8 in federal court on 1-11-2010 @ 8:30 AM! If religion can’t exist with marriage equality, as the crazy bible thumpers like to pretend, because it’s the only thing that gets them off, then let’s hasten marriage equality, now!

God(s) didn’t help the blacks during times of slavery and he/sh/it won’t help the gays either. That would be because gods don’t exist.

Oh… and I’ll just throw this into the mix as well, god(s) won’t smite the atheists for their stance either.

Oops…did I just hear thunder out there?

This article compares slavery to gay marrige.

Another article comparing gay marriage to slavery.

Took me about 2 minutes to find these two articles.

Imagine what would happen if gay marriage was compared to discrimition against Jews, or Hispanics. .
