Update: Suspect in police ambush murders trapped and shot in Seattle house

November 30, 2009

(ChattahBox) — The man suspected of gunning down four uniformed officers in Tacoma, Washington, was allegedly shot early Monday morning after a siege, and is perhaps dead, after being surrounded by police in a Seattle home. Acting on a tip-off, police had sealed off part of the Leschi area of Seattle and armed Swat team decended. Gunshots were exchanged through the neighborhood early morning, but it was not clear whether the suspected Maurice Clemmons had been shot by police, or had turned a gun on himself.

Update: ABC News is now reporting that police have cleared the house and do not know where Maurice Clemmons is, though he is believed to have been injured in the shooting.

According to the Seattle Times, Clemmons, 37, most likely would be in jail right now if not for the actions of Mike Huckabee. Clemmons was serving what was the equivalent of a life sentence in Arkansas until his sentence was commuted nine years ago by then-Governor Mike Huckabee, despite vehement protests by prosecutors. Huckabee commuted Clemmons’ sentence, citing his young age at the time of his offenses. Clemmons has a rap sheet beginning from age 17 that includes assault, burglary, theft, and rape. Clemmons served 11 years, though he landed back in prison for violating his parole. Those charges were dropped owing to an error in serving Clemmons his warrants. Clemmons was released from jail just six days ago, despite facing a fugitive warrant and eight felony charges. His record also indicates erratic behavior and mental instability, and prosecutors had requested a mental evaluation.

Clemmons is believed responsible for the death of four police officers who were shot dead in a single attack at a coffee shop in Parkland, 40 miles south of Seattle on Sunday morning. The three male officers and their female colleague had been working on their laptops in the coffee shop when at least one gunman entered. A sheriff’s spokesman likened the attack to an execution. Other people in the cafe at the time were not injured.

Ooops! Spoke too soon, eh? This is why real newspapers should be kept alive since this type of irresponsible blogging making claims that are not true are harmful. Not only was the suspect NOT in the house, but nobody ‘exchanged gunfire’ with him.

“Real newspapers” like the rags owned by Rupert Murdoch, which exist for the sole purpose of spreading his propaganda, so that he can make obscene profits on stocks he bought at “scare tactics” prices?

Thanks, I’ll stick to the blogs. I have an infinite choice here.
