Television evangelist Oral Roberts has died

December 15, 2009

(ChattahBox) – TV evangelist Oral Roberts has died at age 91, after suffering a weekend fall.  A posting on the Oral Roberts Ministries site Tuesday stated Roberts had been admitted to hospital on the weekend after a fall and had succumbed to complications of pneumonia. Oral, rose from an obscure tent revivalist to a pioneer televangelist, and founded Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla., in 1963, where he served as its president until 1993. He was also a controversial figure with claims of faith healing and unusual money-raising tactics, including his famous claim that God would “call him home” if he failed to meet a fundraising goal of raising $8 million by that March, of 1987.

God must have been using AT&T, and sent the call to Roberts over SMS.
