Palin’s Favorite Founding Fathers, Newspapers: ‘All of Them’

January 14, 2010

(ChattahBox)—-The intellectually challenged former half-term governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin was interviewed by Fox News’ Glenn Beck Wednesday night. And somehow the new Fox political contributer made Beck look like a completely sane genius. But at the same time, the pairing of the dim Palin and the conspiracy theorist-in-chief Beck in the same room happily spewing right-wing talking points, provided a perfect depiction of today’s teabagger Republican Party. Palin provided such expert analysis, as “We want to change it and see people succeed. Not just survive but succeed being outside the system.” And Beck pointed out that, “you and I both were, I think, the number one and number two Halloween costumes of the year.”

But the most telling moment of the interview occurred when Beck asked the patriotic political contributor a “gotcha” question. What did he ask her? Who her favorite founding father is. Oh God Palin is saying to herself—think, think Sarah, what is a name of a founding father? Her answer? “All of them.” Now, doesn’t that answer sound familiar?

Palin quickly went into spin mode mumbling about the diverse collective of ALL of the founding fathers together–at the same time—-all of them:

“You know, well, all of them because they came collectively together with…so much diversity in terms of belief but collectively they came together to form this union.”

Beck responded, “Bullcrap.” “Who’s your favorite?” Palin finally came up with George Washington:

PALIN: “They were led by, of course, George Washington. So he’s got to rise to the top. Washington was the consummate statesman. He served, he turned power to the people. He didn’t want to be a king. He returned power to the people. Then he went back to Mount Vernon. He went back to his farm. He was almost reluctant to serve as president too and that’s who you need to find to serve in government, in a bureaucracy — those who you know will serve for the right reasons because they’re reluctant to get out there and seek a limelight and seek power. They’re doing it for the people, that was George Washington.”

Of course Palin has used the answer “all of them” before, during her now infamous interview with Katie Couric during the 2008 presidential election. When pressed for an answer on what newspapers or magazines Palin reads to keep current, she at first mumbled incoherently about reading whatever is in front of her. Finally Palin arrived at an answer: “Um, all of them”—“Any of ’em that have been in front of me all these years.”
