Judge Orders Officers To Retrieve John Edwards Sex Tape

February 8, 2010

(ChattahBox)—-Andrew Young, former John Edwards aide, has been ordered by a North Carolina judge to hand over a purported sex tape featuring the former Democratic vice presidential candidate and his mistress Rielle Hunter. And to ensure that Young, author of a revenge tell-all book about Edwards, complies with the judge’s order, officers from a security firm will accompany Young to Atlanta to retrieve the tape and other items belonging to Hunter.

Superior Court Judge Abraham Penn Jones said in an order released Monday that the Orange County sheriff has appointed a security firm to help recover the tape, which Young says is stored in an Atlanta safety deposit box.

The order states:

“Mr. Young shall take the Officer with him into the vault to obtain the lock box,” the order reads. “The Officer is to secure all items contained in the lock box in bags as is customary for evidence collection.”

Young was held in contempt last week for appearing in court without the sex tape in his possession. Edwards’ mistress, Rielle Hunter, sued Young for invasion of privacy and the return of a “very private and personal” video.

The judge’s order also mandates that the security officers accompany Young and his wife to their residence to collect other items sought by Hunter, and another security officer has been appointed to copy photos from a laptop and then scrub the files from the computer.

Young previously claimed in an affidavit that he provided the FBI with a copy of the Edwards-Hunter sex tape.
