More Edwards Drama: Elizabeth May Sue Aide, And is Edwards Engaged?

February 11, 2010

(ChattahBox)— The tabloid drama that now surrounds John and Elizabeth Edwards has taken a new turn this week, with the revelation that Elizabeth is considering suing her husband’s former campaign aide for “alienation of affection.” Former aide Andrew Young told reporters of the threat of a lawsuit, after he had turned over a sex tape in his possession, featuring John Edwards and his mistress Rielle Hunter, to a North Carolina court on Wednesday. The legal basis for Elizabeth Edwards’ suit against Young would rely upon Young’s involvement in covering up John Edwards’ extramarital affair, as well as going so far to falsely claim paternity for the couple’s love child.

Young claimed that Elizabeth threatened to sue him, unless he complied with her demands that he contribute $250,000 to her late son’s foundation, stop speaking publicly about the Edwards’ marriage and return voicemails she left Young during the 2008 presidential campaign.

Young, who recently published a tell-all revenge tome about the Edwards’, entitled “The Politician,” claims that he and his wife are fighting for their reputation. “I am fighting for this,” Young told reporters. “They’ve called me and my family liars and we’re going to fight to the very end. … That’s not true.”

Rielle Hunter has already sued Young and his wife for invasion of privacy and to seek the return of the sex tape and other personal property she claims Young unlawfully took from her.

John Edwards and Elizabeth, who is suffering from incurable breast cancer, are now legally separated. And to further add to the tabloid drama, the National Enquirer reported this week that John Edwards and Rielle Hunter are engaged to be married. The Enquirer claims that Edwards proposed on the same day that he publicly acknowledged that he was the father of Hunter’s daughter Frances Quinn. Edwards, a former Democratic vice presidential candidate, who also made a bid in the 2008 presidential election, is reportedly purchasing a $3.5 million dollar beach house for his life with Hunter and his daughter. John Edwards has denied the reports.
