Obama Explains the ABCs of Climate Change

February 20, 2010

(ChattahBox)—-With Fox News hosts, like Sean Hannity and numerous Republican lawmakers nonsensically claiming that a local snow storm disproves the science of climate change, President Obama has started a campaign to educate the public about man-made climate change. And with cap-and-trade legislation stalling in Congress, it’s vital that global warming deniers not be allowed to control the debate. During his appearance at a town hall in Nevada on Friday, Obama explained to the crowd the difference between local weather events and the global climate.

President Obama pointed out that the science behind global climate change, doesn’t necessarily cause every location to become warmer:

“First of all, we just got five feet of snow in Washington and so everybody’s like-a lot of the people who are opponents of climate change, they say, “See, look at that. There’s all this snow on the ground, you know, this doesn’t mean anything.” I want to just be clear that the science of climate change doesn’t mean that every place is getting warmer. It means the planet as a whole is getting warmer. But what it may mean is, for example, Vancouver which supposed to be getting snow during the Olympics, suddenly is at 55 degrees and Dallas suddenly is getting seven inches of snow. The idea is that as the planet as a whole gets warmer, you start seeing changing weather patterns and that creates more violent storm systems, more unpredictable weather. So any single place might end up being warmer. Another place might end up being a little bit cooler. There might end up being more precipitation in the air. More monsoons, more hurricanes, more tornadoes, more drought in some places, floods in other places.”

And WHAT PART of Obama’s talk “explains global warming”? Not a word he said explained man-made global warming at all, just explained why the weather is unpredictable. Unpredictable weather has nothing to do with man-made global warming, except make the man-made global warming pronouncers look silly when their conferences are frozen out. And even worse, the “more monsoons, more tornados, more hurricanes” that he discusses are NOT happening! Don’t you remember all of those dire warnings about all of those hurricanes that never materialized?

Interesting. I heard that the one of the biggest causes of climate change in the future will be our air travel, which although only contributes a small percentage of CO2 now, will grow by a phenomenal figure in the next 30 years. I guess online travel sites like Expedia will not tell you this, but there are hundreds of posts on climate change posted on blogs listed on travel index http://www.Dozentravel.com.
