GOP Rep. Boehner: Stands ‘up for the Big Guy’

February 26, 2010

(ChattahBox)—House Minority Leader Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) was notable for his appearance at Thursday’s Blair House healthcare summit, when he woke up long enough to send off a statement in the middle of meeting to declare it a failure. And not to mention his bizarre statement made during the summit, in which he ticked off numerous factually challenged GOP anti-healthcare reform talking points seemingly unaware of the discussion going on around him. So, it’s timely that the progressive group released a new ad shining a light on Boehner’s allegiance to big insurance companies. points out that Boehner was one of only 19 Senators to vote against ending insurance company monopolies:

“Thanks, John!

As one of just 19 Republicans who voted against breaking up health insurance monopolies, House Minority Leader John Boehner showed who he represents in Washington: the big guy. So we’re calling him out with a new ad.”

The ad will run in Boehner’s home district of Ohio and it depicts the minority leader, as beholden to big insurance companies.”

The ad reads:

“Too many politicians go to Washington and forget who sent them there. But not John Boehner. As House minority leader and favorite of the insurance industry, John showed the courage to stand up for the big guy.”

“John Boehner: the right choice for Ohio — I mean, uh, health insurance companies.”
