GOP Rep. Broun on Healthcare Reform: The Yankees are Coming…

March 19, 2010

(ChattahBox)—Far-right extremist Congressman Paul Broun (R-GA) is known for his bomb-throwing radical, paranoid rhetoric, especially in his opposition to healthcare reform. The Southern lawmaker has delved deep into Glenn Beckian territory, by declaring at various times that President Obama could become a dictator and declare martial law. Last month he said that Obama was a zombie with no soul. Broun has previously said on the House floor that passage of the very centrist healthcare reform bill would allow Obama to tell us what kind of cars to drive and would ban guns. But his latest over-the-top anti-healthcare reform speech may be the wildest one yet, in which he develops hallucinatory visions of the Civil War, as he sees the Yankees coming over the crest of Mount Vernon, headed for Washington with healthcare reform bills in their hands.

Rep. Broun took to the the House floor this week to denounce the healthcare bill, as a form of Yankee aggression by Obama and the Democratic caucus led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA):

BROUN: “If ObamaCare passes, that free insurance card that’s in people’s pockets is gonna be as worthless as a Confederate dollar after the War Between The States — the Great War of Yankee Aggression.”

As Broun spouts his Yankee nonsense, someone can be heard in the background laughing.
