‘Dating Show’ Killer Rodney Alcala Gets Death Sentence

March 31, 2010

California (ChattahBox) – Rodney Alcala, dubbed ‘The Dating Show Killer’, has received the death penalty after being convicted in the rapes and deaths of three women and one 12-year-old girl in the 1970’s.

The Alcala case became a media frenzy when it turned out he had been a winning contestant on a dating show in the 1970’s, when he is believed to have begun killing for pleasure. He had also served a 34-month sentence for raping an eight-year-old girl at this time.

Police recently found a storage locker full of photos, over 200, or women, teenage boys and young children. Some were engaged in sexual acts, including children, and others seemed to be modeling for photos in public or private places.

Authorities believe that some of the photo subjects may be other victims, and are currently in the process of identification.

Alcala had acted as his own attorney during his most recent trial. He has been sentenced to death.
