Right-Wing Sees Visions of Muslim Crescent Moons Dancing in Their Heads

April 14, 2010

(ChattahBox)—New York Post columnist Michael Goodwin penned a piece of right-wing nonsense today, declaring that the logo for the Nuclear Security Summit was personally designed by President Obama to resemble a super secret Muslim symbol. This is “not a coincidence” concluded Goodwin. Oh, that crafty Socialist secret Muslim Obama can’t pull the wool over Goodwin’s eyes. This man knows his Islamic flags apparently. He did his Muslim flag research, breathlessly declared Gretchen Carlson on Fox & Friends this morning, as she promoted Goodwin’s kooky conspiracy theory.

Goodwin denied that he believed President Obama was a secret Muslim — He just acts like one:

“The first time I saw the swirling logo for the Nuclear Security Summit, it looked familiar. I soon figured out what it reminded me of: a crescent moon.” Oh no— not the crescent moon! What could it mean? Scary Muslims of course:

“The kind of crescent moon you see on the flags of Muslim countries (from left: Turkey, Algeria, Tunisia and Pakistan). Indeed, the crescent, often with a single or multiple stars, is the main symbol of Islam. So now there is something like it at an official presidential event, prominently displayed in photographs being beamed around the world. No, I am not suggesting President Obama is a secret Muslim. But I am certain the crescent-like design of the logo is not a coincidence, especially at an event where Iran’s nuclear ambition and al Qaeda’s search for a bomb are prime topics. Obama has been open about his aim to improve America’s relations with Muslims. His bowing and apologies are nauseating, but they are consistent with his goal.”

Ahh, it’s all clear now. President Obama personally directed that the logo for the Nuclear Security Summit depict a half circle, as part of his outreach to Muslim nations. And when the leaders of the Muslim countries noticed the similarity to a crescent moon, they would immediately realize that Obama was one of them — A secret Muslim.

In true Glenn Beckian fashion, Fox & Friends Brian Kilmeade and Gretchen Carlson connected the dots of Obama’s diabolical crescent moon plot. What do the flags of Turkey, Algeria, Tunisia and Pakistan have in common Carlson asks? They are all Muslim nations.

So you be the judge, Carlson said. Now, my head hurts.
