Uni. of Alabama Shooter Charged In 1986 Death Of Brother

June 16, 2010

Alabama (ChattahBox) – The former professor who was denied tenure and killed three colleagues in response has been indicted in the murder of her brother back when she was 21.

The story of Amy Bishop is a complicated and disturbing one, painting a picture of an angry, unstable woman with a history of violent outbursts, and possibly other attempted attacks.

But the first killing appears to have been in 1986, when she shot her 18-year-old brother with a shotgun in her parent’s kitchen. She then attempted to hold up an auto dealer for a car, before being caught.

She claimed it was an accident, and that the gun discharged while she was asking for his help unloading it. Despite massive holes in her story, the police let her go without charge.

Now, 24 years later, she is being charged with the murder of her brother Seth.

The police in her small town have been accused of failing in their duty by not investigating the matter.

Bishop is awaiting trial in Alabama.
