Glenn Beck: ‘We’re Being Indocrinated!’ ‘Abolish Public Schools’

June 22, 2010

(ChattahBox)—During his radio program today, Glenn Beck went on a rant against public schools, declaring that they should be abolished. Why? Because public education is a vast federal conspiracy to indoctrinate our children. Any day now, the men in the white coats will arrive to take Beck away to a nice quiet sanatorium.

During a discussion on whether completely doing away with public education is a hot button issue, Beck declared, “Maybe we should make that a priority.”

The confused and paranoid Beck then went on an unhinged and nonsensical rant, saying Americans are becoming indoctrinated from all facets of society. So, the solution is to abolish free public education for our children and replace it with what? Private schools for the wealthy and home-schooling:

“The problem in America is we don’t even know who we are anymore—we don’t even know the truth of who we are. We’re being indoctrinated from dawn until dusk every single day, seven days a week. We’re being indoctrinated by Washington. We’re being indoctrinated by our unions. We’re being indoctrinated in our schools. We’re being indoctrinated in the media.”

“What are you even talking about? You’re darn right we should abolish public schools,” said Beck.

If you abolish public education you will kill any chance of having a democracy. An educated electorate is the only way to have a decent society. Would you go back to the dark ages? When the church ran everything and it was against the law to read the bible. The conservatives want to re-write the text books or have a home schooling program of indoctrination, and now just close the schools. Are you willing to give up your experience in the public schools? Was it that bad for you? Bad!

[…] isn’t even clear that Beck respects scholastic education as a concept. In June 2010, he ranted against public schools on his radio show, claiming that they “indoctrinate” students […]

I think we should abolish Glenn Beck from the airwaves You talk about indoctrination. This man and other that think like him are a danger to America and society in general. They are poisoning our freedom and prosperity and have absolutely no respect for our government and the people that have died to give us what we have today. SHAME ON YOU FOX NEWS for putting this lunatic on our American airwaves.

If you read the early history of the public education system in the U.S., you will discover that one of its selling points was to indoctrinate the children to believe the way the government officials desired. This idea of abolishing public education is not something new or radical. I recommend you all read the article here about what might happen if schools were abolished. Right now students get a mediocre education at best. The more advanced students are bored to be in classes that have been dumbed down to appeal to the lowest common denominator of inteliigence level. A market-based system of education would bring in all types of options from church-based schools to more advanced private schools. And education would be cheaper. Read the article before you jump to conclusions.

You know, I would laugh at what Glenn Beck has just said in that clip, because it’s actually quite funny. Except that the other day, I was doing walks with a girl from a campaign…I won’t say which. She saw a school bus in front of her, and she said, “Oh my GOD! I HATE school buses! I think public education should be abolished!” And yes, she was serious. I was too. I’m Republican, and I can’t help but think that’s a bit much. We’re already divided as a country. Abolishing public education wouldn’t help us too much with unity.
